How to make Anxiety your B*tch.
Friends, let's have a heart-to-heart today,
People say anxiety starts in the mind. I'd like to say otherwise to that.
Anxiety starts within your environment, and your environment is nothing but a reflection of you and your surroundings.
As human beings we're like giant sponges, we absorb every inch of our vast surroundings. 24/7 our bodies are adapting, adjusting and shifting to sync with our environment.
But sometimes it's too much. We can only take in so much until we grasp for air...
"Your senses peak.
You can feel every inch of everything as your mind runs for cover trying to keep you sane.
So you surrender into that black box of security, but only to find yourself at the peak of a cliff within your own mind.
Looking over the edge... you think of all the "what if's" of the past, the future and of this suffocating, intoxication that never escapes your reality."
This is anxiety.
Speaking from the heart of my own true experiences with anxiety, It's a bitch, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
But the good news is my friends, anxiety isn't a disease, it isn't a disability or a sign that your losing your mind.
Anxiety, in my perspective means, I'm finding myself in this beautiful and distracting world.
That's why I wouldn't trade these experience for anything, because now I choose to transform and rebirth these experiences into wisdom.
That's why today I want to share my personal wisdom and show you how to make anxiety your B*tch.
Get Grounded.
I can't stress this tip enough!
How often do you find yourself on your phone? & how often do we actually put our bare feet on the ground?
As I said, we're a SPONGE. We absorb everything. This includes Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) that are constantly beaming from our phones, computers, WiFi, and yes your microwave.
Let me give you an example, you know when you've been talking on your cell for way too long & your head or hand starts to feel like fire?
That's your body absorbing all these EMFs.
So when we take time to sit outside with our bare feet on the earth, we release all these free radicals and Gaia re-balances our magnetic field. We need to ground DAILY in our high-tech world.
You can read more about the health benefits of grounding right here.
Be conscious of your Environment.
Take a look around at your surroundings right now, how many lights are on?
Is the dishwasher or laundry running? Music? Television?
Even if you don't think much of it, your body can sense every bit of what’s going on.
Take a moment and reset your space. Clean up your environment; maybe light a candle and slow things down.
We have to realize that just because our world insists on doing everything at once, doesn't always mean it's the best for us.
Create balance within your environment.
Take a look at your Diet.
If you’re dealing with Anxiety the first place you should take a look at is your diet.
What are you eating on a daily basis? Is it fast food on the go? Or drinking one sugared-filled drink after the next? (Yes that includes alcohol)
You might be overstimulating your body and mind by getting cracked out from too many carbohydrates.
You can also take a look at the opposite spectrum of it all, are you eating nutrient-dense foods?
When we buy processed foods, they've been sitting on a shelf for months and lacking almost no nutrients, so your body and mind could be literally starving.
Start introducing foods that make you feel good, instead of just tasting good.
Get fresh when you can and make time to cook!
Maybe start introducing calming herbs into your lifestyle such as:
Oat straw
Lemon Balm
Skull Cap
Passion Flower
Lavender
Nutmeg
I know these herbs keep me chill all day long!
Get in touch with your Soul.
Start asking questions.
What's my belief system? What do I have faith in?
I find my anxiety is linked to my own personal beliefs and the morals I choose to live by.
Because we all need something to believe in!
I encourage you to find what makes you feel protected and helps you when you’re faced with fear.
We're all different and there are a million belief systems out there, explore what resonates deep within your heart.
You can be whoever you want and believe whatever you want.
Go find what makes you what to be a better person!
Hug an Animal.
Hell yes, this is my favorite remedy!
Our pets aren't just part of our family for no reason, they show us true unconditional love and support.
Spending time with my fluffy kid reminds me of what's important in my life and that all the other bullshit isn't as important.
So, grab your fluffy child next time anxiety hits and watch the stress dissipate!
Go for a Run.
Now I'm not telling you to physically go run... a long walk will even do it.
But for my sanity, running lets out all my extra energy.
Because let's face it, most of us sit at a desk all day, inside a work space hearing and dealing with everyone's issues.
Blah… overwhelming right?
Throw on those headphones and run it out. Let go of the day and all that extra energy you've been absorbing!
Stretch it out.
You know that feeling when you get out of bed in the morning and reach for that big morning stretch?
Ah… bliss right?
Stretching feels good and it's essential for our aging bodies.
Take 10 minutes out of your day, stretch into all those tight spots, or take a yoga class.
You won't regret it later!
Hold a crystal.
Call me crazy or criticize my beliefs, but crystals are pure magic in my eyes!
They're literally thousands of years formed into a vivid, rich and eye-catching "rock".
I have a unique crystal for just about everything... traveling, being grounded, absorbing EMFs and of course my anxiety episodes.
Sure, it might be the placebo effect, but it truly helps me find my peace & strength when I need it most.
You can find crystals EVERYWHERE, you just have to look!
Dig to the bottom of it.
Finally, the most essential piece to this puzzle.
We gotta look anxiety right in the face and dig to the bottom of it.
You’re not crazy, you don't need a pill to fix you, all you need is to learn how to give your body what it needs. You know yourself better than anyone on this earth, don't forget that!
So, no more covering up our anxiety and shoving it in the basement.
Instead, here's to loving every inch of our anxiety right to the core.
It's time to let our anxiety know that it’s okay. That even though this anxiety sits within us, we still do and will always love ourselves unconditionally.
Because when we love every negative and positive aspect of ourselves, we find our strength and we acknowledge where the healing needs to take place.
You’re not broken my friend, you're here for a reason.
Please don't ever doubt that, even in your deepest moment of anxiety.
