Getting high & healthy is a real thing, even though ppl might think otherwise. For centuries cultures have been using cannabis to enhance their movement practice & train their brain.
From yoga to MMA, it's a state of mind that can make working out pleasurable, challenging, and a real intimate experience with yourself.
In my 11 years of experience as a fitness trainer, I've seen many people using exercise to run away from their problems (literally) or as a method of punishment to release guilt from food.
I was one of those ppl!
Using my workouts as a "hey, you've been bad!" "Now go punish yourself until you feel better about yourself!"
UGH.
Leaving my body overworked and mentally undernourished a relentless cycle continued until I had a handful of high, transformational workouts.
The layers revealed themself as I sat in my "muck."
Instead of jogging until I couldn't anymore or kicking my butt with burpees, I'd do the total opposite.
Meditate, breathe.
Who has time for that!!??
It was essential to sit in the muck and accept myself at the moment, despite how my emotions lead me to believe.
"I feel so fat right now."
"I'll never get rid of this belly."
"I just can't control myself around donuts!"
Getting out of my head and in my body in a slower, gradual way was where the magic happened.
Able to enjoy the real meat of my workout sandwich!
"I'm here because I get to move my body, and it feels so good!"
"I feel so mentally strong when I weight train!"
"Yoga helps me feel stable, and I deserve to be balanced."
The foundation to long-term success isn't how strict you can be on your diet or how hard you work, but it comes down to what you're telling yourself while doing the work!
The better you feel mentally while exercising, the easier it is to stay focused, increase your endurance, build strength & cultivate healthy thoughts.
