Considerations before using Cannabis
Considerations Before Using Cannabis
The effects of using cannabis are different for each user. Depending on the condition of our endocannabinoid system, everyone will have a different experience.
Breaking it down to our mind having a different experience from the benefits our body might undergo and, for some, a spiritual experience that's uniquely its own.
It's important to understand how your mind, body, and soul will respond to using cannabis so you know how to use it successfully to benefit your wellbeing.
These are a few considerations to think about before using cannabis if you're not too familiar with the plant.
Drug & Supplement Interactions
If you're taking medications, it's important to know if that drug will interact with cannabis. Here's a great list of popular medications that are high-risk, intermediate-risk, & low-risk. Supplements can also interact with cannabis; so do your research or ask a professional before starting your cannabis journey.
Mind-set
If you're an experienced cannabis consumer then you're probably aware of the psychoactive properties of THC. My experience with high amounts of THC is usually very beneficial when I have the right mind-set. Since it is a mind-altering plant, I've found that it's important to respect that. If I use cannabis when my mind isn't in the right headspace, then my experience usually results in anxiety. It never hurts to pause and take a few breaths before participating.
If you're a beginner with THC and/or CBD and you’re not sure which cannabinoid is best for you, schedule a consultation with me; we'll figure it out!
Set & Setting
Again, focusing more on the THC and full-spectrum products, how you consume cannabis & the environment in which you're in is important. If you're a light-weight like me, dabs, bongs, and other highly concentrated consumption methods are a little intense. I prefer a few hits from a pure flower vape like the PAX or my trusty one-hitter for a gentler approach when I smoke.
Unfortunately, the stigma of "being high" has created a box of paranoia for most active cannabis users. Being in a setting that isn't cannabis-friendly (or illegal) can be a buzz-kill. Healthy & safe environments will allow you to gain the most from your cannabis experience. Taking a walk outside or relaxing with friends at home is always my go-to. I encourage you to establish a relationship with cannabis to better understand how and where to consume it. It doesn't hurt to know your local laws or register for a medical marijuana card if you're an active user.
All in all, education and personal experimentation will be very beneficial when starting your cannabis journey. I personally love Leafly, Remedy Review, and CBD origin for educating myself and my clients. Last but not least, don't make any decisions based on fear. Reach out to a professional if you need that extra support and guidance.
